How are you doing with your wellness resolutions? Are you keeping up with them? If so, kudos and congrats! So many people fall off with their health and wellness goals by this time. If you’re still doing the same plan you started with on January 1, or if you’re a long time wellness junkie who hasn’t switched up their routine in a while, you may be in need of a little shake-up to keep you motivated to continue.
Here are 4 ways to refresh your wellness routine:
1. Do New Workouts
This is the easiest way to refresh your wellness routine. If you’re a runner, try orangetheory, or pilates… or if that idea terrifies you…just choose different routes, or work on speed drills. You can refresh your routine without a complete overhaul. Even tweaking the style of your favorite workouts can be helpful. If you’re up for something brand new, hit the gym if you normally work out at home, or run outdoors if you normally do cardio on your gym’s treadmill.
2. Try a challenge
There are no shortage of 30-day challenges floating around the interwebz. My two good friends are in the midst of a 21 day vegan challenge, and a group of friends on facebook are on a 7-day green smoothie cleanse. I’m currently on a 30 day strict paleo challenge (and loving it, btw) but there are plenty of workout-based challenges to try as well. Pinterest is swarming with ab, plank, butt, arms and leg challenges to give a shot. There are pose-a-day yoga challenges to keep you bendy or Couch to 5k/10k challenges if you want to run. A challenge keeps things fresh and new, and the timeline makes it more fun.
3. Buddy up
Everything changes when you go from doing something solo to doing it with a friend! It just switches up the entire dynamic. When it comes to your wellness routine, buddying up can increase motivation, keep you accountable, add a competitive spirit, and help you multi-task by coupling your social time with workouts. Friends not interested in sweating? Hit the gym with your significant other, work out at home with your kids, or go for a run with your pooch. You can also find e-buddies online for support or competition.
4. Switch up your supplements
Think about what you’re looking for with your refresh and add a supplement to help support that. Want to improve your gut health? Try a probiotic. Need more energy on a cellular level? Try a B complex. I recently added Nature Made’s Hair Skin & Nails to my daily regimen. (They’re the melts, so they just dissolve in my mouth, no chewing, no hard to swallow pill.) I have been neglecting my hair lately, and my skin can always use more help.
