As busy moms, we are always preparing our kids for something. School, practices, games, lessons, birthday parties, even just a day out at the park. It’s a lot. We are coming near to the new year and we have to also consider preparing them for a healthy, happy new year, the same way we are preparing ourselves.
Here are a few ideas:
Clean/clear kids’ rooms of clutter
Despite kids not wanting to clean their rooms, when their space is clearer and organized, they enjoy spending time in there much more. Start the new year off happier by decluttering their rooms, getting all outdated clothes and unused toys out of the way, and make space for more creative play.
Visit dentist/doctor for annual check-up
Get your check-ups in before the end of the year! If you haven’t already, get your children’s medical check-ups so they are all up-to-date for the new year. Bonus. You’ll have an accurate height/weight measurement to look back on at the end of the year to see just how much they’ve grown. If you are a Floridian looking for quality and affordable health and dental insurance for your kids, check out Florida KidCare. Medical and dental coverage is available for families with a variety of income levels.
Have them set resolutions/goals
We are used to setting resolutions each year and creating goals for the year ahead, but your kids can benefit from doing it too. Have a family meeting and let your kids create a resolution list or goal list for 2018. Encourage them to make a vision board to keep them motivated to reach the goals they set.
Start new healthy food habits
Talk with your children about the importance of eating healthier meals and snacks. You can look for new healthy recipes to try as a family online or at the library’s cookbook section. Include your kids in the process and they’ll be more apt to go along with less of a struggle, and actually eat the new healthy meals they picked out.
How are you preparing your kids for a happy, healthy new year??

I love the idea of having the kids set their goals and resolutions. They’ll learn to make growth a part of their lives.

Yes, it’s good to start them early. I want them to be lil goal crushers!

Nice one Dani! I love the idea of having kids set a resolution for the new year. Maybe if they start early they’ll learn how not to break them by the end of January, like me. LOL

In true JAmaican fashion – you already know – I need to wash every single thing in this house and scrub it top to bottom before NYE.
Also, Greys birthday is a few days later so I’ll be preparing for his party.

Decluttering is major! That’s what’s been on my list lately plus we make frequent visits to the doctor.
