I’m back on Operation Momshell. Operation Momshell is my personal quest to not let mom status and putting my children first, relegate me to a frumpy fugly unhappy afterthought. Momshells are fit, hot, happy women that are also super engaged moms. The fitness part of it will have to wait until September when I’m cleared to work out again. But my other parts are in full effect (skin care, hair care, self care, beauty, hobbies etc).

One of my momshell missions is a moviestar smile.

I’m on it…

I got braces off like 5 minutes ago but 3 minutes later, my teeth were jacked up again.

After meeting with a few orthos this past couple months, I learned that I am one of the cases that would need a permanent retainer attached on the bottom back of my teeth in order to prevent them from re-jacking up. (I believe the proper term is crowding.)

I want my teeth straight again, but there was no. way. in. hell. I am getting metal braces on my teeth at this age. Been there. Never doing that…. again.

At this point I need to be able to eat what I want, clean my teeth without annoyance, not have a scratchy mouth of metal, and not look like a 16 year old. Plus, I wouldn’t want to hold speaking engagements with a mouth full of braces.

Enter Invisalign.

I went to Palm Beach Orthodontics and had the most high tech dental appointment I have ever had. I got my mouth all measured up manually by the doc, then by fancy shmancy tools and computers.

This special camera took a 3-d rendering of my mouth, tooth by tooth, and made a mockup of the current jackedupness, and the future straightness.

The doctor was not satisfied with the final product and will be doing tweaks to make the final outcome perfect.

There will be about 18 months of treatment.  Ugh.

Every two weeks I put in new trays that shift my teeth into the proper alignment.

I just switched to my 5th set of trays yesterday.

I feel more of a difference than I see. But I’m taking photos so I can compare later. From the look of my 8th set of trays…I think my bottom row of teeth will be looking kinda straight! yippee!

I’ll be chronicling my Invisalign journey on my youtube channel so stay tuned… I’m giving you all the good bad and ugly of these aligners.

Have you had braces or Invisalign before?

Oh I’m excited about this because I wanted to do Invisalign but wasn’t sure if it was worth the money. I can’t wait to hear about your experience and whether or not you thought it was worth the money/ time.

So far, yes, worth the time. they’re shifting already and by the looks of the 8th set of trays (16 weeks in) i’ll have the bottom row pretty straightened out…. We’ll see. As for the money, actually just did an interview with Reuters about it. I’m pissed I didn’t go to a place from groupon. I couldda saved a couple grand.
