After my setback I told you about last week I am trying to get myself back in gear. I am being more loose with my exercise plans so I can fit it in around the kids, john, housework, blogging, coaching and writing for clients.
Putting wellness as a priority for life makes me actually feel better about my setback….well, not better….but just not as down about it. Because I’m not on a crazy diet or strict exercise plan I dont feel like I’ve failed and have to “give up” or “start over.” It’s more of a refocusing.
I’m sneaking even more healthy bits into my day now:
- Running around with Rohan more, suggesting we go play in the backyard versus suggesting we sit and read together. (He actually turned me down for storytime a couple days ::sobs:: )
- Swapped out fruits in lieu of dessert and replaced whole milk with soy milk and other non-dairy milks.
- Playing drinking games. (With water, not alcohol!) Making up games to trick myself into drinking more water even if it’s as simple as challenging myself to chug a bottle in 60 seconds really helps me get more in.
- Restarting yoga for helping me zen out and being more intentional with my meditation practice. I notice that more than anything, when I let my meditations slip, everything else goes out of wack.
I am making better use of the mornings, and the evenings after Rohan is down for the night. And during the day I will get in either a run or a video. (T25 is my #1, but bodybeast and piyo are still in there. Going to try out P90X3)
I’m also starting to break things up. I suggest this to people all the time, but never did it for myself because I didn’t feel like it was effective enough for me to get a good workout….. but if it comes down to fitting in two minutes of ab work while on the floor playing with the children, or skipping abs alltogether…obviously playtime ab work is the best bet.
Plus, Roey is still the best free weight:
As for nutrition, I’m still swapping unclean for clean, and eating a non-meat lifestyle. I’m feeling drawn to release fish/seafood from my diet as well and really go for a vegetable-based way of eating.
Maintaining focus while still taking it easy on myself is good not just for the results I will eventually get, but also for my mental/emotional health as well. I’m feelin’ good girls!! How are you?
How do you fit wellness into your days?

I like how you are reframing things in a positive way. I’m so tough on myself and rigid sometimes that I discourage my own self. After baby #2 I’m finding it a lot harder to balance but i”m going to take your advice and “break things up.” I need to do something different! Best of luck to you.
