Back in my acting days, I was also working a 9-5 job supporting a CFO and would get calls for same day auditions that I just couldn’t say no to. I would have to sneak away from my office for “early lunches” or “doctor’s appointments” all the time. Shout out to Kells, my old boss who, despite being the “mean guy” in the office, was always so understanding of my need to get the hell outta there on super short notice.
Let me tell you. Running up and down Manhattan, in the summer, while trying to look cute and stay fresh is a feat. If you don’t know the Manhattan summer heat/humidity/stinky sewer smell/mean subway passengers and general “UGH-ness”…you’re a lucky woman. All of those things combine to make you sweat bullets and take your freshness level down to zero. (And then I had to take my sweaty self and try to give an Oscar-worthy performance…before hiking it back to the office. ::le sigh:::)
And of course, I’d also have nothing to drink, and no singles to buy water, I’d find a way to spill some sort of snack on myself, and step in something gross in the subway or sit on gum (I do this ALL the time. My butt loves to be minty fresh) or find another way to just be a hot mess.
I’ve started keeping a mini arsenal in my bag, especially when I’m out in the summertime. Having Rohan now makes my stay-fresh arsenal slightly bigger, but I always have on hand: a Tide to-go Pen, a bottle of water, personal wipes (I now use Summer’s Eve), pepper spray (blame John), mini deodorant, gum (for my mouth, not my butt), 5 or so sheets of Bounty (the small select-a-size sheets), and a DRY snack that I can’t stain myself with. I think I’m going to add some oil dabbing sheets for my greasy face to my bag’s arsenal.
The Summer’s Eve cleansing cloths are a recent addition to the arsenal, and I really enjoyed them. (I used to use baby wipes- even pre-Rohan.) They are gentle on my sensitive bits and the scent I use, Island Splash, is super fresh smelling. I recently had a blogger event that had me traipsing all around the city – with Roey in tow, mind you – and these cloths were clutch in my arsenal. I love that they’re individually wrapped so I can just pop one or two in my bag instead of taking a full package. Check out the Summer’s Eve Facebook page for info and deals on the various products in the range.
Also, be sure to leave a comment below for your chance to win a $100 SpaFinder Gift Card!!!
Just let me know what you do to stay fresh, and what’s in your “arsenal?”
