I’m Not Down With The Swirl (Yeah I said it)

February 8, 2016 by Dani 17 Comments

You've heard the term "Down With The Swirl" many times I'm sure. As an interracially married woman, I hear it a lot. (I'm Black, my husband's white.) I am not down with the swirl despite our marriage and here's why. OMG Girls, I just found this in my drafts from FOUR. YEARS. AGO!  (I didn’t edit it except to add gifs and links) I'm going to have to do a follow up to this soon!  ------------------------------------- The worst pickup line I’ve ever received was from a middle aged ...

Our Marriage: Three Years Strong & Still Learning

October 9, 2013 by Dani Faust 42 Comments

2nd anniversary photo

OK, first of all, can I just say....it feels very wrong saying 3 years strong, because I've been with this dude for basically my entire adult life, so saying 3 years feels like I'm shortchanging our relationship. But anyway.... Happy 3rd Anniversary Jonathan!! I love you so very much! Our 1st Anniversary: We went to Vegas to celebrate, we found out we were pregnant and it was a crazy amazing celebration! Our 2nd Anniversary: We had a sleeping 4 month old and just went out to dinner at ...

So John set up my account at this gym, right. So everything was under him. They told him that I would just need to come in with my ID and they'd link our accunts and I'd be all set. I hand the guy (that I've never ...

Interracial Marriage Q and A

March 19, 2013 by Dani Faust 4 Comments

Here are a few answers to questions I received after posting the last couple posts on the Interracial Marriage topic. Feel free to keep the questions coming. I'm happy to share my perspective. What made you decide to date outside of your race? Why do you only date white boys? (One person actually asked "Why don't you like black men?" LOL) Did you expect to marry John (or marry a white guy?) Do you and John have culture clashes? What made you decide to date outside of your race? I ...

Interracial Marriage: Reactions of Strangers – John’s Response

February 28, 2013 by Dani Faust 3 Comments

Here's what John had to say about yesterday's Interracial Marriage blog post. When they say women have better memories they are right.  Guys just let stuff go.  Or...maybe have bad memory=) The times Danielle remembered about our encounters with people who felt the need to go beyond staring were not in my immediate memory.  After hearing them it helped jog it though.  And I will even admit to egging on the black isrealite on the train.  He said something which I could have let ...
