With Sharkie sleeping through the night I’m getting large chunks of sleep again and it is glorious I tell you! GLORIOUS! He’s giving us 9-12 hours a night and I’m getting 6-7 hours! It’s really amazing what having more sleep does for you. I didn’t realize how jacked up I was until now.
No more:
- dizzy spells or losing balance
- wanting to punch john in the face and murder everyone else
- forgetfulness (ok I’m lying, less forgetfulness)
- lethargic laziness all. the. time.
- daydreams of running away to the Westin for a weekend of quiet and sleep
Lots more:
- presence
- energy
- clear thinking
- balance
- productivity
- patience
Plus:
- I’m banging out pieces of writing that I was struggling with for WEEKS
- Working out feels good again and less like a chore (…except when it feels like a chore)
But wait, there’s more:
So ladies, please get some sleep tonight. It’ll make you smart, healthy, and even skinny! LOL
Seriously, do you notice a change in your days when you are getting more sleep at night?
How many hours of sleep do you get each night?

Wowza, super informative post! My hubby teases me because I am a beast if I don’t get enough sleep!! I like being up early, so that means I have to go to bed early to ensure I get some beauty rest…but lately, I’ve been so busy, that hasn’t been the case! 7 hours is not enough for me, though, I’m more of your 8-9 average sleeper. And yes, I super notice a difference when I’m sleep deprived!

I don’t get HALF as much sleep as I should, but I agree that when I get more, I definitely feel good the next day! It’s amazing how it correlates though to weight loss!

MAN These are some AMAZING statistics, makes me want to go to sleep RIGHT NOW lol! Nah but seriously, my first born slept through the night at 3 months it was glorious…my second born however, just started sleeping 8 hours a month ago and BABAY! I am a different woman. Happier. More Positive. Writing also (its like the floodgates have opened) and just better. Getting up every night, twice a night, was hurting my hubs and I we were just plum exhausted. And maybe that’s why i’ve recently finally broke through a weightloss plateau….hmmmmm

wow, so sad to read about the heart disease portion, but i can definitely see how that could be! i actually got a full night (8 hours+) last night which was a rarity, but awesome!
trying to get more work done earlier in the day so i can start getting more sleep!
Dani says
That’s my goal too. Get work done earlier…it’s just so much easier to wait til lil guy goes down to bang out my to dos.

These are great! We all *know* that it is important to get enough sleep but actually seeing the benefits on paper is another thing entirely. Thanks for posting!

My first slept through the night at 2 months and the second slept through the night at around 4 months. A big difference people say sleep when the baby sleeps but its not that easy. Now I am lucky if I get 5 hours and that’s on a good night even if they sleep through the night because I am still up doing work.
Dani says
Oh you’re a night owl eh? I can’t stay up too late, I just pass out.
pegster says
hehehehe, sleep is good indeed. So glad that you are getting some.

I definitely feel more refreshed if I’ve gotten enough rest. I’m less cranky and better able to handle issues that come up during the following day.
