Welcome back!! Have you signed up for the FREE 5-Day Manifesting Breakthrough Challenge?! .

I’ve decided I am not going to shop for clothes, accessories, or shoes until……GULP…..May 1, 2011.

Yes, you heard me correctly.

I know it sounds rash.

I know it sounds impossible almost.

But.

I’m doing it.

I want to save the money I would spend on clothes and shoes and put it towards either honeymoon or just usual baby savings.

It’s not even the money bit that made me decide to do this.  It is really the fact that I just…have enough.  More than enough.  I mean, we all do, ya know?  I’m not going all minimalist or anything, but I realize I always set goals to clear things out of my apt and reorganize my space, and then I buy more things to put in when I’m done!

I know there are items in my closet, dresser and bins that haven’t even been worn that I’ve had for a while!!

So, I’m going to work with what I have until May 1, and see if I really need/want any items badly.  In May when I do my winter/summer clothes switch I will bag up the items that I haven’t used and give them to goodwill or something.

I’m happy about this goal. It’s a biggie, and when I mentioned it to a couple friends they gave me skeptical looks and were like “yyyyeaaahh…..good luck with that”  HAHA!

I’m doin’ it.

Who’s with me?!!

(cricket sounds…)

I do not shop for months at a time. This is totally normal to me. I have far too many clothes and shoes already. I now only buy what I really want or like. This means if I still want it after 3 months, then I can go and get it.

    You can do it girl!

I WISH I could do this. I am really good for like a month or two… and then I go whackadoodle. 🙂 I am jealous of your will power!

If you're in NYC you could always try to sell to Beacon's Closet or Buffalo exchange, I think they buy clothes for a low price, and whatever they won't take you could donate.

Once I got past the shock of the headline, I realized this is probably a very good idea. I just saw that Jaime Eason puts dots on her clothes at the beginning of the year, then removes the dot when she wears them. Things that still have dots at the end of the year get tossed. Kind of a cool idea too. And I agree – we all prolly have enough things and don't actually NEED more. We just WANT more. 🙂

Good luck girl!! You have a lot more control than I do. I buy new clothes or bras almost every week. I'm a bit of a shopaholic.

Good luck! I'm in between sizes after losing the baby weight, so sadly I do have to shop. But this is a great idea. But a girl I know did something like this, only her rule was nothing new for a year. So she could shop consignment and ebay and stuff. But not new. And she got some AMAZING stuff and saved a lot of $$.

Loving that "Bitch Please!" at the end cause gurrrrrrrllll! After all the shopping I do for my boys I HAVE to buy something for myself from time to time just to keep my sanity. But at the same time I'm not a huge shopper in the first place, I just get something nice here and there.

More power to you girl! More power to you.

I'm with you. I actually just had a conversation with my hubby about the same thing. He gave me that "yeah right" look too. I'm not going to cut out everything. I'm just going to limit myself. My goal is to have a certain amount of money left after each paycheck. We'll see how that goes.
