I love reading everyone’s stories of how they started with beachbody, whether as a customer or a coach.
I guess I’ll start my story at around 2am on a random night about 5 or 6 years ago. I got in from my night job taking photos at nightclubs in NYC, and was winding down before heading to bed to get a couple hours of sleep… before my day job. (fml) I got sucked into an infomercial for Insanity. It was the first time I’d heard of Shaun T’s adorable self, or Insanity, or Beachbody. It looked really cool, and really intense. I saw the price, and said ‘no way’ since every penny I earned was going to NYU to pay my tuition for life coaching certification.
I kinda forgot about it, but beachbody kept popping up at random in my life after that. Lots of people were doing insanity, and hip hop abs. I saw guys on youtube getting ripped with P90X… and through scrolling around on youtube, I learned about the beachbody coaching opportunity. I didn’t exactly understand it, assumed it was a pyramid scheme….and was focusing on my life coaching pursuits anyway so I pushed it out of my mind.
Fast forward to summer of 2012. I had recently had Rohan, and was dealing (unsuccessfully) with the resulting baby weight left behind. A friend of mine became a beachbody coach and invited me to one of his challenge groups. I signed up right away, bought insanity and signed up as a coach for the 25% discount… and to learn more about maybe coaching in the future.
Yo. Insanity was HARD! I mean SO HARD. I felt like I was going to die every. single. workout. I was so out of shape. I started and stopped. Then I started again and…. stopped. (repeat 3 times)
I had good intentions….What I didn’t have….was a good coach. (no shade) When I started and stopped that first time… my coach dropped me!! Just flat out.
I remember telling him I was going to switch out my workout for a kickboxing video that day ( you already know I have exercise ADHD) and he responded with “you don’t trust the program, that’s on you.” and Poof! He was gone. I will never forget it.
Well…at that point I was like…this beachbody coaching thing SUCKS!! It’s a scam. He didn’t wanna be my coach, he just wanted my money bla bla bla!” I cancelled my coaching membership, and left Insanity alone, until I was ready to try again.
This time I had more than good intentions. I had a solid plan, a deadline, and consistency (even though I mixed in kickboxing and running with no guilt) and…I had good results!
Even though I wasn’t a coach anymore I told everyone and their mama about Insanity and how it was intense but really worked well for losing weight and getting in shape. I was working as life coach and a blogger but considering beachbody coaching again just because I believed so much in the programs.
I started to research a little bit on my own about the coaching aspect, and realized that Beachbody was a really amazing company to be a part of. They’re big into personal development which is right up my alley. I didn’t know much about network marketing though.
I found a coach that didn’t seem like she’d just drop me if I wasn’t perfect, and signed up in March of 2014….I was 9 months pregnant at the time with Kaya! (LOL my timing has always been impeccable :))
Since Shaun T helped me get such great results with Insanity after baby #1, I ordered his Focus T25 program to help me out after baby #2 and he didn’t disappoint. I was able to fit in the 25 minute workouts around being a stay at home mom of two kids under 2 years old and running my life coaching / blogging business.
After those results I had a bit of a setback due to a rocky year, but despite the personal physical set backs, I had a beachbody business that was still earning extra money for me. I wasn’t consistent, and therefore neither was the extra money, but I stuck with it and learned A LOT.
I’ve made some major changes in my life, including a cross country move and purchasing a home. One big change is that I am now a working mom. My blog and coaching was not enough to sustain a new mortgage. I haven’t worked outside the home for someone else since before my son was born in 2012. Needless to say this was a big adjustment.
Beachbody is big on you finding your “why”….meaning your deep reason for doing what you’re doing. Being at home with my two children, being their primary caregiver on a day to day basis is my why. Being healthy for them so I can truly be there for them, intentionally and fully, each and every day is my why. My little ones are counting on me to get back home to them.
Now, here I am, with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement about my beachbody coaching business and the personal physical transformation I’m embarking on.
Being a beachbody coach was my destiny from years back. I didn’t realize it until 2014, but there’s no stopping me now. This coaching opportunity allows me to help people live healthier, happier lives, gives me a sense of fulfillment, and also lots of wiggle room in my finances.
I am excited to share with people not just about beachbody’s amazing programs, but the coaching opportunity that has proven to be so life changing for so many individuals.
