Tendril Tuesday is Back!!! I have a new co-host, Gabby of Strawberricurls. Go check her out. ….after you read this 🙂
This weekend I was fortunate enough to attend the Let Your Hair Down Expo in Brooklyn hosted by the adorable Jenell of Kinky Curly Coily Me
I hadn’t been in past years so I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that it was sponsored by Hairfinity, and ever since BlogHer I’d been interested in learning more about that brand.
I attended and invited my blogging buddy Adanna of Rattles & Heels (check her out too…after!)
It was really nice to look around and see nothing but natural heads of hair. Lots of different styles, textures, densities, lengths. Made me wanna chop off my relaxed ends on top and rep 100% natural again. (Then I remembered how close to being able to pull all my hair back again and that idea flew out the window)
Celeb stylist Felicia Leatherwood gave a really great talk. She was giving out basic info like hair types, the importance of moisture, deep conditioning weekly for dry hair, drinking lots of water, eating healthyfully and less processed foods, being gentle with your hair, etc.
I was happy to meet her. I asked her about going lighter with my hair in a more natural way and she gave me a great recommendation of how to do it. She was very sweet and obviously very passionate about hair.
One of my IG friends asked a question of her, and she graciously answered: How to care for relaxed hair to keep it healthy? She said: Protein treatments every other week (She recommended this one.) and moisture and follow a regimen similar to naturals otherwise.
I went up to the actual expo after Felicia’s session, and met some great brands:
Soultanicals…Yeah….be prepared to hear more about them here at OKDani.com. I was impressed by their product line, and the owner Aya. Her products are geared to solve the dryness and breakage problems that most of her clients have. The whole line has really great ingredients some sourced directly from African countries…she calls the line Afro Vegan, which is interesting. I’m eager to learn more and try these products out.
Entwine…girls… I think we’re going to hear a lot about this line in the near future. They have a lot planned. And, most importantly, the woman who was reppin’ for the brand, had the most moisturized, healthy, beautiful twistout, and she was drastically colored. I’m always impressed when I see a healthy head of colored hair…cuz usually…it looks a hot fried dyed mess.
This line is chock full of good ingredients and all the products are designed to work together in a specific order to combat dryness and keep your hair hydrated and feeling (and lookin!) good. This is another line I’m going to have to try out and report back to you on.
The main sponsor of the Let Your Hair Down Expo was Hairfinity. After I entered the event space I made a beeline for their setup and guess what….
I won a gift bag for being “the 3rd person willing to step into their booth” per the rep there. I was shocked that everyone wasn’t immediately flocking to them, I mean you couldn’t miss it! (PS: I also won another gift bag for tweeting out pics during the event *happy dance*) Anyhow, I learned about the product line at BlogHer, so I didn’t really get any new info here. It was nice to hear the new testimonies of the reps though.
I’m always annoyed with the blatant lies of product reps. “Oh my god I started using this oil and my hair grew two inches in two weeks!” I just give a strong side eye to shit like that and am just like “oh really, wow!! that sounds false.” However, these girls did NOT do any of that. All the girls I spoke to mentioned feeling better (which I can believe from a multivitamin supplement) and new growth seeming to come in thicker and fuller.
Jennell said she has been using Hairfinity for 3 months and has seen a great difference in her new growth as well. I trust her review as well.
Very soon, I’m going to have a Hairfinity giveaway for you!! Be sure to subscribe to OKDani because only subscribers are eligible to win.
Do you use hairfinity? What’s your favorite product line?
