Just one of those days…. when I wanna …
Man, when your day starts with a 5am trip to the emergency room, it doesn’t bode well for the duration of the day. My dear girl was sick, so to the ER we went. (She’s OK now)
It was also the first day at the new preschool for my sweet boy:
We were able to do drop off together, and it went really well, so there’s a bright spot….
But then I get to work. Oh work. With a theif, with deadlines, with a sheisty ass coworker, lazy mofos, backstabbers and general annoyance…I just wanted to throat punch every damn body.
All I could think about was my baby girl and call my gram a thousand time to see if she was taking in any fluids yet.
How I keep it together on a day like this:
Step 1. Bitch and Moan for a minute
Hey, sometimes you just gotta get it out. I called John and whined to him. But then had to turn things around so I couldn’t do that for too long.
Step 2. Remember that I want to feel good
You can kinda get stuck stewing and rehashing yucky stuff, that doesn’t help to get out of a bad mood. So I (literally, out loud said) “I want to feel good!” It helps to just get off the downward spiral and slip you onto a new track.
Step 3. Gratitude
Finding stuff to be happy about is my automatic go to mood booster. I wrote a list of a few things I was grateful for and put it right on my computer so I could see it nonstop.
Step 4. Do Something that feels good
If the above doesn’t work, try something else! Do something that just feels great to you. For me, I put on some fun music and blasted it in the car with Roey when I picked him up from school. He had fun and so did I.
I hope I don’t have another yucky day for a while. This one was enough.
What do you do when you’re having a yucky day?
(Apropos of nothing, have you picked up your copy of the book I co-authored? Well go do that!!!)
