I love the holidays. Christmas is just one of the best days of the year. The whole season is awesome. I love the music, shopping for the tree, decorating, giving presents I know my family will enjoy….all of it. I’m really excited once halloween ends, every year. And girls, I’m so excited that my little decorating has begun!
This year we have a natural disaster in our house, and thanks to the little tornado we call Rohan, we won’t be able to put up a tree. Bummer. I’ve only got a little bookshelf (high shelves only) and wall space to decorate… 🙁
I need the holiday decorations to make the house feel festive. My Otis Redding Christmas music can only do so much….ya know?
So, I headed over to my trusty Duane Reade store to get a few Christmassy odds and ends to put around the apartment for some holiday cheer!
They had so much holiday-related goodies, and tons for Christmas in particular. I might have to go back on Black Friday and see what else I can get a deal on!
I wanted this cute boot for my stocking, but passed on it. And I loved these gift card boxes, I’m going back for those because we’re giving out a bunch of gift cards as stocking stuffers.
I was going to get this wreath but we’re going to get a fresh one instead, since we’ll have no tree to make the place smell piney.
How cute are those nutcrackers? Rohan would not allow us to keep those out of his grasp for long, I’m sure.
I ended up getting cute hats for the family (the one John is rockin’ in the pic up top, and the reindeer antlers I’ve got on), and some bows and decorative items we can put HIGH up, out of the tornado’s reach.
I’m glad Duane Reade had all these treats. They have the staples too…cards, bags, boxes, and gift wrap… but I was well stocked in that area.
So my holiday decorating has officially begun. It’s a small effort this year thanks to Rohan and his
destructive curious toddler ways, but even though I’m not finished, I already feel so much more Christmassy! Just need my fresh wreath to decorate and hang on the inside of our front door! When I go back to Duane Reade to pick up that sparkley boot and those lil’ gift boxes, I think I”m gunna grab a whole heap of garland to put over the doors throughout the house too. John’s going to roll his eyes so hard.
Did you start decorating yet??
