So Yesterday I hit the gym with John for my weights day. Instead of doing dumb bells, we used the smith machine for bench press, shoulder press, calf raises, squats.
I HATE THE SMITH MACHINE!!!
First of all, my ghetto gym doesn’t have those soft padded roll thingys for the bar so I had heavy metal bearing down directly on my shoulders/top of back and it hurt soo bad. So calf raises and squats hurt my shouldertops more than the body parts they’re supposed to work!
The good thing is, I was able to do more weight this way, I wouldn’t have been able to hold 30s up in each hand easily.
Shoulder press was weird doing it a) seated b) with limited range of motion.
Actually, all of the exercises were weird on the smith machine’s limited range of motion. And finding the right place to stand under it was weird. I felt so constricted and limited. Ugh. The only thing I liked on the smith machine was the bench press.
I really think I prefer dumb bells to anything else. I wish my gym had freeweight barbells so I could do squats/calf raises/shoulder/bench with those instead.
Pullups were harder today. I changed the “helper” weight from 55 to 40. and HOLY MOLY was it killing me. I liked it though. I was fighting for those reps!
Nothing really new to report on this day except my hatred for the smith machine.
Oh, and I ate a lot today and started my daily protein shake intake. Muscle Milk – Chocolate flavor…YUMMMMM
