Still feeling swamped and “under it” all, but wanted to check in with some random life tidbits on this warm Friday.
I’m sure you’ve heard about Trayvon by now, I’d just like to urge you to write to the Sanford PD and Town of Sanford FL. If what transpired enrages you, do a lil something about it. So far the lead detective and the chief stepped down…. that’s something… but I am hoping for justice and the murderer behind bars.

We move tomorrow!! I’m so excited to have a new, bigger place, with washer/dryer in the apartment. I’m not excited for the actual move. Or living in Jersey. Upside: maybe I’ll bump into Snookie 🙂 Nothing is packed yet. ::sigh:: John’s been working so hard this past week painting, putting the place together and shuttling things back and forth. Meanwhile I’ve been…sleeping. Work/sleep/work/sleep… It’s a lethargic cycle.
I read The Hunger Games series this past week. I really liked it. It was very kiddie but the story was compelling and made me want to start a revolution in America lol. Now I want to go see the movie! Especially now that I’ve seen the cast. Very interesting casting. I hope the movie lives up to the book. (that totally never happens)
Have you read this series? How’d you like it?
I dropped my last course for this term. It would’ve ended May 15th. My due date is June 2. I felt about 100 lbs lighter after dropping it. I could barely keep up with my other two courses! The one I’m taking now ends in 3 weeks and unlike all my other classes, this one doesn’t have a huge term paper due on the last day. Hallelujah.
I found a doula! A free one! His name is John, and he’s my husband. LOL. I have given up on my doula hunt. They’re either too expensive for our budget or unavailable for our estimated due date time. John is going to be my doula, and I know he’s going to be the best birth partner I could hope for. We ordered The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin and are going to find other resources and work together to put together a birth plan.
Who was your birth partner?
Finding a birthing class is proving to be kinda hard too. I’m looking in NYC and in Jersey where we’re moving. The Bradley courses I find aren’t convenient for us. We may end up just taking Lamaze at the hospital where I’m giving birth and study the Bradley method on our own using books/vids if possible. I found this book which will probably be a helpful resource: Natural Childbirth The Bradley Way (No, it’s not my plan to do a natural childbirth, I’ll want drugs I’m certain, but not until I get to the hospital and I want to put going to the hospital off as long as I can)
Did you take any birthing classes? Which ones and how were they?
In hair news, I’ve been pretty lazy. I wore it straight all year basically until recently. I’ve now been doing braidouts but instead of leaving it as an “out” i’ve been pinning, bunning or ponytailing it up. I need to get or give myself a trim. My ends are looking a bit ratty. For the spring I’m probably going to be doing loads of twistouts using my new best friend, but I’m very tempted to just keep straightening each week just for easy sake. ::shrug:: we’ll see.
What are you up to this weekend?
