Diaper rash is an evil demon terrorizing baby butts everywhere. (Don’t believe me? Click HERE) Seriously, it’s the worst thing I’ve had to deal with as a mom so far. I try my best to avoid it at all costs now. I saw Roey’s buttbutt getting a little pink and thought nothing of it. I used some powder and diapered him up as usual. The next diaper change, it was like I had a whole different baby. He was SHRIEKING and not letting me get into his diaper. I opened it up to see the reddest booty ever, and the texture of the red bit was rougher than his normal skin.
I was beside myself. He was in such pain, clearly, and I couldn’t just leave him alone cuz he had poop all over that needed to be cleaned up. I took him to the tub and washed him as gently as possible and cried along with him. I really wished I could switch places with him until the pain went away. After he was all cleaned up I let him stay diaper free.
I had nothing to put on his butt besides petroleum jelly at this point so I let him go bare. I immediately hopped online searching for the best remedy that wasn’t all crazy chemically. Lots of sites mentioned Boudreaux’s and my first thought was..”.ooh…sounds fancy!” So I had John pick some up right away.
Now, I’ve gotta testify…After the very. first. use. there was a noticeable difference in Rohan’s rash! The skin was still as red as before, but the texture was back to normal, and he wasn’t howling like an injured wolf as I changed him. The next diaper change, his butt was back to pink and he was his usual squirmy self during the change. And the 3rd diaper change he was back to normal, smooth tan-colored booty! Thank goodness.
That’s when I had to tell every mom I know that this Boudreaux’s Butt Paste stuff was the business! I’ve been sold and evangelizing it ever since. Now, I pop on a lil Boudreaux’s at the very first hint of any pinkness, just in case. No rash since!
If you follow me on twitter you know that at BlogHer in Chicago this year I had the opportunity to meet George Boudreaux, the creator. I had to shake his hand and thank him on behalf of my lil Sharkie’s butt, and all my friends’ babies’ butts that have benefited from his products. I honestly wanted to hug the man. He was so sweet and clearly proud of the good work that his butt paste is doing. I checked out the website recently and saw tons of products in the Boudreaux’s range that I’ve never seen on store shelves.
