I had a dream about blogging last night. Is that weird? I don’t remember ever having a blogging dream before, but I was redoing my blog business plan, and reading a lot of blogs about blogging last night just before passing out so I guess that’s why it happened… Anywaaaaayy…..
I’m noticing more blogging income reports from non personal finance bloggers these days. In a blogging facebook group I’m a part of, BLM, a few were posted, and boy oh boy, am I inspired to step my game up!
- Pinch of Yum – $32K for the month of August *faints*
- Earning Free Money – $8k
- Your Modern Family – $11K
Some other bloggers who aren’t making big bucks yet also have been posting their reports.
I am almost more inspired by them than the big money makers. Love that they’re willing to show the growing pains from the bottom up, versus showing only the “after” picture like so many do. Great reminder that we all start at exactly ZERO (actually we start at a deficit if we count what we pay for hosting and what not) and build our way up bit by glorious, annoying, awesome bit.
I kinda wanna jump on this bandwagon! I don’t know if I’d ever do a detailed income report like this, but I’m considering it. I don’t think I’ve ever discussed money explicitly here. I’ve mentioned beachbody earnings, but I don’t think I gave dollar amounts (I need to do another update on that too!) I’d feel more comfortable speaking generally, like “oh I earned rent and groceries this month” … but some people pay 2k for rent and some pay 500 so that’s not really transparent at all is it lol. Maybe I’ll give a range or something…I’ll figure it out if I decide to play along.
I feel like it would give me accountability, and make me push harder with monetizing okdani so that I could show an increase each month (especially since my traffic has taken a dip *sob*) But I still kinda feel like people should mind their goddamn business….(says the girl who just posted 6 links to other people’s business for you)
A friend of mine who is a coach mentioned how nice it would be if coaches started providing income reports too. That would be interesting since it seems like every coach in the world is claiming to make a million dollars a minute.
I guess if I decided to take part in this transparency movement, I could do a blogging/beachbody/coaching biz income report… we’ll see. Right now, I’m still in the “stay outta my pockets and mind ya business” headspace although I LOVE the transparency and the “if I can do it so can you!”-ish ness of it all. Let’s be real, how much you make is nobody’s business but your own, so I appreciate that more bloggers (besides personal finance bloggers who’ve been doing income reports forever) are being so open about what’s possible, and how. The how is the important part. It’s really inspirational no matter the amount they’re rakin’ in. ::shrug::
Would you put your income on front street? Blogging or otherwise?
How about I was digging in stuff to do a clear out, and found a whole mess of business cards that I collected at BlogHer that I thought I’d lost. Oh… I’m talking about Blogher 2013 btw…. ::facepalm:: So here I’m going through one by one to follow people’s blogs and finding a lot of them are just *poof* gone! I’ve been blogging since forever it feels like. Right now I can’t imagine stopping.
Oh, and I mentioned personal finance blogs earlier, let me tell you, if you’re into personal finance blogs, check out http://www.pfblogs.org/ I LOVE that site. It’s an aggregator for a whole mess of money blogs, if you have a finance related site you can link your blog up to it too. I just realized this was a random thoughts post… Whatever.
