Estee Lauder Double Wear For the Win

Remember when I had that bra fitting and they told me to always try bras on in store before I buy…..and then in the next breath told me they don’t carry my bra size in the store….?
I told you many moons ago that I’m not that girl. I dont wear a full face of makeup…hardly ever really. I do however, love a tinted moisturizer sometimes. I ran out of my old standard that I’ve mentioned here before, and have been going barefaced to work, or sometimes just a lil powder. It was easy and I’m lazy so I didn’t look for an alternative…. but I didn’t feel as polished/professional at work without it on. I jumped at the opportunity to try out Estee Lauder’s Double Wear line at Macy’s.
Gotta be honest, I was nervous when I saw only a few darker shades. I was like “oh lawd I’m gunna look like I’m doin kabuki theater” but it wasn’t bad at all.
My makeup artist, Lana, used the full coverage foundation on me, and matched me up pretty well, which is my issue with foundations. I never feel like it really matches me 100% and I feel like I’m in a mask.
Luckily that didn’t happen with this. It was applied with a gentle hand (thanks Lana) and it matched pretty well. What I also liked is that it felt kinda….satiny to the touch. I didn’t want to buy right away, so I kept it on while I walked around the mall and ran errands.
About 6 hours later, I go back and my face is looking good, and no where near as greasy as it usually is. (Apparently this stuff stays put for up to 15 hours.)
I’m like “Lana I love this stuff. I’ll take a bottle.”
She’s like… “oh….about that…..”
“We actually don’t have that shade available for purchase.”
Are you kidding me?!
BUT, they had the light foundation, which was likened to a tinted moisturizer and was available in my color. #win
I didn’t want to take of my makeup to try it out so I waited until the next day to test it out.
Sooooo happy the full coverage foundation wasn’t available cuz the light foundation is absolutely perfect for me.
I’m comfortable applying it, and though it doesn’t feel as satiny as the full coverage, my skin looks and feels nice 🙂 #wholepoint. Have you tried Double Wear from Estee Lauder yet? You can
Are you a full coverage or a tinted moisturizer kinda girl?

Simple Skincare Review and Giveaway

I’m officially mad at anyone who’s bee using Simple Skincare products and keeping it a secret from me!

I got the chance to try them and I officially LOVE the products that I’ve tried so far. How did I not know about this brand before?!

With squeezing workouts into my busy day, I don’t get a chance to shower immediately afterward. I have been using the cleansing facial wipes and I really like them. I also got a chance to try their light moisturizer with SPF 15 and it’s one of the few lotions that contain SPF and doesn’t make my brown skin look grey and ashen. I’m digging it. Plus it goes on so light and smooth, and the scent mildly reminds me of vacation.

The day/night cream wasn’t as thick as I expected, but it made my skin feel great. I am looking forward to trying the other items in the package I received. Not sure how the gel moisturizer will work on my already super dry skin but with how well the other products have worked so far, I have high hopes.

Simple Skincare conducted a survey of women in big cities around the country and found a few interesting behaviors.  Example: 27% of women say they’ve gone 2 days without washing their face. Have you ever done that? Other findings of the survey found that women in big cities are really taking steps to protect their skin through their daily behaviors, like avoiding stress, working out, avoiding salty foods, etc. I love how women are actively taking steps to keep themselves healthy inside and out!

Also kinda nice that Simple Skincare is thinking about us ladies dealing with big city issues that take a toll on our skin.

Well, now the fun part. A giveaway!!

You’ve got a chance to win the same goodie bag I received including:

We Really Do Not Need Stretch Marks

Dear Universe: We don’t need stretch marks! Stop giving them to us dammit! Sincerely, Striped Mothers Everywhere

My stretch marks make my belly look seriously fugly.

I know some women don’t care, or want to view their stretch marks as “battle scars” and say they “earned them” etc.

Not for me.

I wish they weren’t there.

After Rohan there were some, and I didn’t mind them one bit!

Now after Kaya there are a million evil, jagged, zig zaggy devil stripes all around my middle and I can’t stand them.

I read a post on Blogher bashing women who said their stretch marks ruined their stomachs, and that their baby ruined their body etc.

The post was going in on these women, as if they were not allowed to feel this way simply because the scars were caused by a baby.

How I feel about my marks has nothing to do with how I feel about my babies.

Don’t even know how that flawed logic came about….

Yes, the human body is miraculous. Yes growing a person inside you and then popping them out to live among us is the most awe inspiring, amazing, affirming things…. ever.

But you know what would be even more amazing?

More miraculous?

If the human body could do all that magical stuff…. and….. not leave stretch marks behind.

I mean, why not?

If our bodies are capable of this level of magic, why not just sprinkle a lil extra magic in and have zero stretch marks or extra fat deposits?

We don’t need any “proof” of pregnancy left behind. We have the child for that.

You know what?

I’m gunna leave this very important post in God’s suggestion box just in case he gets around to it….maybe after ending world hunger.

Women of the future will thank me, I’m sure.

jesus fix it

::stalks away hoitily::

What very important issue are you going to put in God’s suggestion box?

And did you do anything to lighten your stretch marks?

Beating Winter’s Dryness with Suave Professionals®

2072-669797-B_L_P_MoroccnInfusionLotion_300x300 Hey girls, How does your skin respond to winter? My skin is already dry naturally, but the cold weather and lack of humidity makes it even worse. I have to lotion multiple times a day or I’ll get itchy. (And I think Roey has inherited this trait too.) I already told you about my love affair with Suave products. They’re always the right price and work very well on my skin and hair. John even loves them too. (And by loves I mean he doesn’t grumble when I replace his empty bottles of products with the new full bottles of Suave.)

Suave Professionals® is my favorite part of the range because they work exactly the same as the premium brands without the premium price tag. You see Moroccan oil (Argan Oil) everywhere these days, and now Suave has two new Moroccan Infused products that I’m enjoying. The Body Lotion is already a fave. I love the smell, and it works well (up to 24 hours of radiant, non-greasy hydration).

I think I want to keep it in the bathroom to use after I wash my hands, instead of in the bedroom, because then I’ll use more of it and can get wafts of the light, luxurious smell more often. It absorbs really fast and is non-greasy, so I’m not greasing up the doorknob or have to open the door before I lotion my hands. (Yes…I’m very particular about some things… don’t get me started on the process of picking out a kettle…) Bonus. I think it may even taste good because I keep catching Roey trying to eat it. 🙂

Rohan Loves Suave

I have a love/hate relationship with dry body oil sprays but so far the Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Dry Body Oil Spray is on my love list so far. I haven’t used it alone on bare skin yet. I’ve only used it to “seal” in the moisture all over my body after using the body lotion. (The same way I do with using an oil after a moisturizer to seal in moisture on my hair.) It’s non-greasy formula works well for me. Since I’m SUPER dry, especially in the winter months, I don’t think I’ll try to use it alone until the summer.

Have you tried the Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Body Care line yet?

Are you an argan oil fan?

And now…..for a giveaway!!! For a chance to win a $1,000 gift card, let me know which of the Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Body Care products you would most like to try.

Pre-Jingle Ball Event with Carmex #drjingle #cbias #shop

I’m super excited that I had the opportunity to attend the Duane Reade Pre-Jingle Ball Event on Friday. I have never been to Jingle Ball despite living in NYC practically all my life.

As I was getting ready to head over, I was thinking, OMG I’m going to be the oldest person there, plus I’m pregnant…I’m gunna be looking like:

But I quickly got over it, pulled on something that could fit over my bump, and headed to the event.
