I just wrote an email to the recruiter that got me my temp assignment letting him know I would not be returning there.
It was the hardest thing to do.
Now, I’m no prude, but the jokes and comments I overheard this past week were FILTHY and honestly, degrading.
They have NO place being said in an office with females on board. (they have no place being said in an office at all, but you know what i mean)
I mentioned some things to John and he said I should take a voice recorder to work, catch em and then sue so we could be rich LOL. Nice in theory, but I kinda don’t want that headache.
My mom is an H.R. Director and her advice was to just talk to the recruiter using very specific language (degrading, uncomfortable, harassed) and get outta there.
So I did.
I kinda feel like I did the right thing, just removing myself from the situation, but I also kinda feel like a chicken shit.
Maybe I should have fought.
There are two other young women in the office in “hearing range” of the disgusting jokes and comments. I didn’t ask them how they felt about it, but they’ve been working there a while so I guess it’s okay with them.
Maybe I should’ve stood up and let them know their actions are not okay and they cannot continue to get away with it….
