Hey everyone it’s FRIDAY!! Rejoice! Hope your day goes smoothly and you have a kickass weekend!
I don’t know why I’m so peppy. I’m hungover as hell and I had (happily) forgotten how this feels. My tummy is making crazy noises and is dangerously bubbly. My head and neck are aching, and I’m dry as the sahara. But somehow I’m in good spirits!
Somehow we convinced ourselves that being little lazy house mouses was not OK. So, last night John and I had our first night out in forever. He dubbed it “Date Night” but I’m not on board with that. It was my friend Tineyi’s birthday, and also his new girlfriend’s birthday. (cute right?) They invited us out to some bar downtown to celebrate.
John and I arrived at the bar unfashionably late and found the two of them drunk as skunks.
She way more than he. I’m talkin’ stumbling, hiccuping, sloppy everything, slurry screamtalking, incessant whining, inappropriate grinding, unsuccessful attempts at getting people to buy her drinks. In the end she convinced him to leave his own bday party to go show her the city…and they just disappeared.
It was the first time John and I were meeting her so the impression was not the most favorable. But then again, it’s your b-day, I can (kinda???) get it. (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself to not feel like such a judgey biatch lol)
It was also the first time I met any of Tineyi’s friends and they were all pretty cool, one was a pastry chef at a great restaurant, so…I’m going to have to make him my new bestie and get lots of sweet treats.
I only had two of the strongest cuba libres ever but I was more than tipsy. John and I left and went two blocks down to a bar where one of his oldest friends Joe was bouncing.
We had the best grilled cheese sandwich in the world, and I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture of it. (It’s funny how blogging makes me want to photograph EVERYTHING these days) Anyway, it had cheddar, smoked bacon, and thin apple slices…and it was magical and heavenly…and may be the high point of my entire night.
I don’t know if John and I can label this a ‘Date Night’ but it was definitely a ‘Get Outta The House’ night which we needed.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Happy Friday!!
