One Month of Rohan

I’m a lil behind!! This is the one month update for Roey, but he’s 6.5 weeks today. I’ll catch up shortly. The collage of photos I posted yesterday are from his one month birthday.

Weight:

At Roey’s 4 week appointment he was 9 lbs and 14 oz! He’s plumpin’ up! He feels so heavy to me. And looks so big!

Clothes:

We’re officially out of newborn clothes. I can’t believe I will have to put them away…i’m avoiding it and keeping them in his drawer just taking up space.

Diapers:

We are in a size 1 since week 4 of his life. I changed him one day right before setting up his bath, so I said, let me be cheap and put a newborn diaper on him for the 5 minutes it would take me to set up the bath. This way I wouldn’t “waste” a size 1 diaper. …. that tiny newborn diaper looked like an itsy bitsy teeny weeny white puffy bikini on the poor boy! I should’ve taken a picture.

Eating:

Rohan’s breastfeeding about every 1.5 to 3 hrs. We are following his lead despite the doctor saying we should stretch it to 3 hours or more. If he’s rooting, and isn’t self soothing with his hand, and I get the hungry cry, a boob is going in his mouth. He’s nursing for longer periods of time now, and the times when John feeds him expressed milk in the bottle, he takes 3 to 5 ounces at a time.

Naps:

There is no rhyme or reason to this boy’s napping style. Usually he’ll take a morning nap, a noonish nap an afternoon nap, and evening nap and then go down for the night. But some days those naps are hours long, and some days they’re 45 minutes. Can’t call it.

Night time:

I cannot wait for this boy to sleep through the night. He sleeps 3-4 hour chunks, but he gets cranky and though I’m supposed to be sleeping while his daddy feeds and tends to him, I hear him fussing with John in the living room and I don’t get sleep anyway. I’ve started taking some night shifts and it’s a much smoother transition, I nurse laying down in bed and it’s more of a seamless process of burping changing and getting him back down to sleep.

Squealing and trying out smiles and expressions
Seeing the world around him and looking at everything intently

Dislikes:

Waiting the 3 seconds it takes for me to whip out my boobie
Being in a car that’s not moving
Being in the same position, looking at the same stuff for too long

Milestones:

Scooting a lot more now. I’m scared he’ll be walking like….tomorrow.
Smiling more consciously
Starting to coo and squeal more

The first month has been amazing and tiring. I have a feeling every month will be.

Hard to believe it’s been over a month already! He’s so handsome! I always breastfed on demand and still do with JJ. My mom was always stressing me to put them on a schedule but that just seemed ridiculous. I’m not even on an eating schedule.

We’re just entering being able to enjoy riding in the car with JJ. That cars being soothing for babies phase totally skipped over my kiddies until the one year mark. Glad to hear that all is well with you and Rohan!

Rohan is so cute! I agree with so much of this post! My poo is still gaining a pound/wk..he was 9.5lbs @4 wks and he’s over 12lbs now = almost 7 wks! And he screams @ red lights and instantly is quiet whn we move again n the car…lastly, I also feed on demand..my baby likes 2 “snack” sometimes and will take a little milk often..my doc said try and stretch till 2hrs but he still wants 2 eat! I gues that’s y he is gaining so well. Glad our babies r the same age and looking forward 2 seeing ur baby grow!

Happy one month (or 6.5 weeks Rohan). It is so fun to real about all the milestones. You are right, every month is going to be amazing and tiring and it keeps getting better and better.
