I’m a Waiting Waiter

First and foremost – Happy Birthday Grammy!! I love you!

Now that that’s taken care of, can I just whine for a second? Thanks.

Waiting SUUUUUCKS!!

Waiting for BabyH that is.  (well, I’m kinda impatient, so all waiting semi-sucks but this is worse)

We wait for that damn egg, we wait for it to be long enough after ovulation to test, we wait for period to come but pray it doesnt, we wait for me to stop being pissed and sad that period came, we wait for period to be over, we wait for positive OPKs, we wait for fertile days, we wait for the day or two I can test, we wait for the day we see those two fabulous lines. We wait and wait and wait.

Have I mentioned we wait? And it sucks?

I realized that I’m living my life in two-week chunks. Pre-ovulation and post-ovulation.  And even though I have so much going on with work, school, business, socially, it’s not enough to make me forget that I’m just a freaking waiter (getting no tips mind you) with between 1 and 14 days to some gynecological event for me to set another 2 week chunk of life around.

When we first started unofficially trying in May..well more like..not trying, not preventing.. I mentioned to a friend I was frustrated that I didn’t get preggo immediately (i know i know). She decided to tell me about her friend who’s been trying forever with no luck, did all these treatments for years with no luck and is all upset about it.  As if that is the right time to tell that story.

Anyway, I really in the back of my head thought I’d be one of those folks who got of BCPs and then *BAM* bun in the oven. When we started for real trying in July I was just certain it would happen immediately.   I wish people had more stories about that to tell me, instead of gloom and doom.

It’s frustrating that I’m not preggo yet.  And it’s frustrating that it’s so early to tell if it’s just bad timing so far or if there is something internal that needs to get fixed.  It’s frustrating to be a waiter. Hey, BabyH, hurry the hell up, ok?

OK, vent over.  Thanks for suffering through listening.

Babymed says: With regard to couples who make love regularly:

  • About 50% of healthy couples get pregnant after 4-5 months
  • 70% get pregnant after 9 months
  • 85% get pregnant after one year.

But the sperm count has to be OK, the woman has to ovulate regularly, and her tubes have to be open.

How long did it take you? If you had difficulty, what was your first course of action w/ your doctor?

Anyone have any wonderful stories of “oh we tried for 5 seconds and then *pop* went my belly!”?

My Favorite Hair Products and Tools

This is in response to quite a few of my emails, I had a youtube post on this, but it’s outdated (12/2009) so here goes:

These are the products and tools I used daily for hair care.  I love my staples, but I also like to experiment with new products.

Wide Tooth Comb:

Mebco Tortoise Shower Detangler

Mebco Tortoise Shower Detangler  – $4.67 on amazon

I use this comb most often.
Gotta have wide-spaced teeth for detangling these curls and this one is the mack daddy for me.

Shampoo & Conditioner:

Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Shampoo – $7.67 on amazon (the huge one is $12 at TJMaxx!)

Giovanni 50:50 Hydrating Calming Conditioner – $9.24 (for a 3 pack!) on amazon

I’m currently trying to use up what I have so I can move on to purchasing only more natural products, but these listed are the ones I use often and am currently using up. Also:

I just realized I don’t have any staple shampoo other than Giovanni.  I used to use Cream of Nature’s shampoo but I think the formula changed or something because it stopped being as moisturizing(ish) than before.

Moisturizer:

I am almost out! I’m going to have to purchase new products that are more natural.  This is my fave for now though.

Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner Repair Cream – $5.39 on amazon (also at target!)

I can’t say enough about this product.  (Tho I fear they’ve changed their formula.  A friend of mine bought it, hated it and gave it to me…but the one she bought was so wierd! Wrong consistency, and did nothing for my hair.:( ::shrug::)

Oils:

C’mon…you know I love my coconut oil.  I’ve used several brands and like them all, but I find myself purchasing this one most often.

This one is $12.76 on amazon, but there are so many brands you can find tons for cheaper.

I use it for hair and skin.  I use a different brand for eating.

Leave-in Conditioners / Styling Products:

I am the most nervous to try new leave-in products now that I’ve found my staples that work so well, but I do want to adopt more natural products so eventually I’m going to have to let go of some of these.

Ouchless bands:

Gotta love em! Makes your ponys updos and buns easy and doesn’t yank your hair out when you’re taking the band off.

Goody Ouchless Bands – $1.99!

I like the goody ouchless but I also love the scuunci brand elastics too. They’re “ouchless” but just not branded that way. They’re called “No Damage” :) Be sure to buy the thick ones if your hair is thick, because the “light and soft” ones don’t hold up.  The thick scuuncis hold up better than goody.

Other items I used regularly are:

Plastic Caps:I need these in my life for DCing and protecting a wash n go from the day 2 shower.  I think they’re called processing caps…they use them in salons.  I buy them in bulk like this box.

Grabbers:My mom and I call them grabbers (and we call hair elastics hair kabobs…not sure why…) I’m sure normal people have a better name for them…butterfly clips? clamps? claws? ah who cares.  They’re the best for sectioning off hair in the shower, or for styling.

Bobby pins: for holding updos in place

Scarf: I tie my hair up almost every night.  It makes a big difference in retention.  I use a satin scarf (or bonnet) Similar to this one.

Satin Pillowcases: For when I’m sleeping like a wild woman and my scarf comes off, or on those rare days when I forget to put on my scarf I’ve got my pillowcase for backup.  John calls it the panty pillow cuz of the material haha

So these are my staples, I hope this was helpful. What are your staples?! Any natural conditioners/moisturizers/leave-ins to share?  Please give me some suggestions girls!!

Mind Right Monday

Hi girls,

How was your weekend?  Mine was lazy.  Our alleged hurricane never came.  I’ve been staying at my parents’ place for a bit and since they’re on Long Island I was nervous at first.  The news was portraying this huge disaster…but whenever I checked weather.com (like…every hour) for our town it said light rain and light wind.  I figured I’d believe weather.com over the fear-mongering news, especially since we’re not on low lands. Glad I did because it was kind of gorgeous out and the nice cool breeze saved some A/C money :)

Lazy has kinda been my modus operandi all of last week, actually.  I’m going to blame being at my parents’ place and PMS. :)   I seriously ate more junk and watched more TV last week than I have in the past few months combined.  (and I loved every minute of it)  This week I’m making a turn around though.

That said…..

Goals for this week are to:

  • write content for coaching site
  • work out 4 times minimum
  • twist my hair for the 1st time since the cut (and see if it’s wearable)
  • blog daily
  • make birthday plans (restaurant/lounge/buy outfit)
  • take a bubble bath
  • catch up on everything at work
  • get school work done before Sunday

I am super grateful for:

  • releasing things I have no control over
  • accepting all the good things coming my way
  • doing school online and not in person
  • friends and family and their health and well being
  • Irene not doing any harm to my loved ones
  • my bosses being out this week :)
  • my new gyn being nice and helpful
  • extra strength advil liquigels
  • having a happy marriage with very little issues
  • music and its ability to transform a mood

What about you, ladies?!  What are you grateful for?  What are your goals for the week? Let me know, let’s chat.

Introducing: Baby H!!!!

Now….if you scroll down in a hurry looking for ultrasound pics…you’re going to be disappointed.  Sorry.

But if you’re just looking for general cute foolishness, you’re in for a treat.

I stole this from my girl Faith @ Life, Love & Marriage (Check her out if you don’t already know her.  She’s too cute!)

She posted her future spawn with www.morphthing.com and her kids looked so adorable I just had to copycat.

It’s a site where you morph two photos together…but it’s not the old school type where they chop one eye from one picture and one eye from the other and leave you with a patchwork-quilt-face baby…. it’s all fancy and technical lol.

I put this pic of me,

and this pic of John

And our lil bambino was:

Aww!!

So, I found a forward facing pic (which the website recommends) of me to go with the same pic of John.

And here is the H Family…. Cassidy and Liam?:

The girl pic kinda reminds me of nicole richie as a baby lol.

I really want to hug and hold these fake children, is that weird?  It is weird isn’t it.  Pretend I didn’t say that.

I morphed John and me to show the adult version of our child.  Apparently one of my children will grow up to be transgendered…not sure which one though, but here he/she is:

I kinda hope it’s Liam who’s the tranny so he can teach mama how to do cool makeup.

Have you used morphthing before?  It’s super cute right?!

You can also morph your face with your celeb crush to see your babies haha, or morph 2 celebs together to make a mega baby….they have weird faces like chewbacca and gollum on there too though… no cute babies there.

If you have morphed pics on your blog leave me the link so I can come see!

PS: I can’t wait until I really have kids so I can look up this post and see how close morphthing came to the real deal.
