Goodbye 2010

What a year!

2010 was a big year for me.  I had some wonderful happenings, a little bit of crap, and lots of learning experiences too.
Awesome 2010 Stuff:

  • Traveling Solo to Guatemala for a month
  • Going from Girlfriend to Fiance to Wife
  • Diving and Snorkeling with Whale Sharks
  • Appreniendo Espanol

2010 Learning Experiences:

  • Working for myself and handling the financial difference
  • Realizing what real friendships are, and the different types of friends I have
  • Deciding the path I want my life to take and the steps needed to take it there

Crappy 2010 Stuff:

  • Losing John’s dad.

Nuff said.

ANYWAAAAAAYYYYY…… it’s about to be 2011 and I’m super psyched to have a new year to fill with TONS of amazing stuff, good learning experiences and hopefully very little crappy stuff.

Looking forward to in 2011:

  • Getting Preggo
  • Enjoying Married Life
  • Starting School
  • Pursuing Career

How was your 2010?  Anything significant happen for you?  What are you looking forward to in 2011?

Happy New Year’s Eve!!!

Hi Girls! How are you? I’ve missed you.

To those who emailed me asking if all was well, thanks! and YES all is well… except

I’v e been a bad bloggyfriend.

I’m in Florida and have been for a while.  Family, food, friends, outings, parties and catching up on sleep has kept me away from writing here and reading your blogs and commenting.

I’ve got some posts coming to ya in the next few days, and when I get back to NYC and my normal schedule I’ll be blogging regularly again.

It’s 2011 tomorrow.  Are you prepared?! We’re having a huge party down here so my day today will be preparing for that along with my aunts and mom.

Have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Santa’s coming tonight….are you excited?
Did you leave him some milk n cookies?
Are you going to stay awake to catch him coming down the chimney?
Does your family celebrate and open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

(as a kid I was SO jealous of the families that got to open gifts on Christmas Eve…I mean….a whole day earlier!!  I pressed my mom so hard he finally allowed me to open one gift at midnight…..then go to bed lol)

Enjoy your Holiday!!

fela

Well, my Christmas gift to myself (aside from all those shoes from shoe woo) was a trip to the theater.

For a New Yorker who loves acting/music, I really don’t get to the theater enough.  I can never rally anyone to go with me.

I’ve decided to take myself to a show each month.  Solo if I have to.

I saw Fela the other night.  And let me tell you, it was fabulous (and not so fabulous).

Fela was a Nigerian musician who traveled the world building a style of music he called AfroBeat.  He was deep into Nigerian politics and had an incredible political impact during the 60s 70s there too.  His mom was a gangsta ass feminist and political activist so really he had no choice but to follow suit.

The musical part of the show was AMAZING!!!  My dad introduced me to Fela’s music a while back and I’ve dug it ever since, but was never a diehard Fela fan.   Now that I saw the show I want to own his music.

The music had you dancing in your seat, and standing up to dance (at the actor playing Fela’s request) at some points.  The crowd interaction was just enough to be fun and not annoying.

The dancers were Fabulous too.

I got tired just watching those lil energizer bunnies!  They were super talented and seemingly tireless.

The only thing that disappointed me about the show, was Patti.

First off, Patti Labelle is my girl, and I love her.  And her cookbooks.

However….she was not live on broadway.

SHE WAS PRE RECORDED

I was so upset.
How you gunna lipsynch on broadway Patti?!

::sigh::

Now, if the Lipsynching wasn’t enough to upset you.

Perhaps the fact that she sang as if she was in North Carolina instead of Nigeria will get your goat.

I busted out laughing (at a very inappropriate time) at this.

Fela is begging his mom for an answer in his Nigerian accent and somehow his Southern Belle mama responds to him.

I was too through.

If it wasn’t for the incredible music and dancers, I think I may have asked for my money back.

Complaining aside…it’s a great show!! hahaha

Have you seen Fela?  What did you think of it?  Did you pre or post Patti?
