Do you remember when I told you about the woman who went from a B cup to a D cup?
Well, check out that post and then come read this one….cuz I am in shock and awe at my tig ol bitties rightabout now.
OK.
First Off.
Let me just say: If you’re considering a boob job, I urge you to try the pill instead. Namely: Nordette
I was a 32B forever. When TOM would come around they would swell for a couple weeks a month to a 32C cup.
After starting this pill my breasts grew. I started wearing 34Cs instead and they seemed to accommodate everything perfectly.
Until:
I went and got sized a couple weekends ago.
It was a really interesting experience. I was fit by two different people who both came to the same conclusion.
They measured me in a bunch of places:
- around my body under my armpits
- around my body under my boobs
- from neck to breastbone
- from shoulder to top of boob
- shoulder to armpit
- armpit to armpit in front and back
(i think I’m forgetting some)
Then they asked me what size bra I was currently wearing, and when I told them 34C they looked shocked. (sidebar: one of the women had big eyes to begin with, and when she opened her eyes in horror at my bra she looked like her eyeballs were going to pop right out on the dressing room floor.)
They told me to put on my current bra, and they went point by point showing me fit issues all around the bra detailing why 34C is not the right size for me. Eye-opening, I tell ya.
They came back with a few styles and tried them all on me. They were really great about showing me why each style/cut fit well or fit poorly on my body.
They also showed me certain things that were supposed to fit perfectly on all bras like:
- the middle bit between your breasts is supposed to lay flat against your body
- where the under-wire should sit, start and end
- where there is not supposed to be any “meat” hanging
- where the bands should lay on my shoulders
- where the band in back should cut across
- how loose/tight the bra should be
The fitters both kept reminding me to always try on before I buy and be sure it’s the proper fit before leaving the store with a bra.
I learned sooo much. And in the bras she tried on me, my chest didn’t feel as heavy as it usually does. I felt…supported!! I was amazed.
So she gave me this handy dandy card that told me my new (BCP sponsored) bra size: 32DD.
My mouth dropped to the floor. (kanye’s throw some d’s remix popped in my head)
“Are you sure?” I asked.
She looked at me and cocked her head like I was a precocious child and patted my shoulder while nodding.
Then she told me most women are wearing the wrong size bra and she repeated again the importance of me trying on my bras in the store and looking at the key fit points she showed me before purchasing one.
Still shocked at how far off I was size-wise, I asked what section of the store I could find the right cuts for me in my size.
Guess what she tells me:
…..wait for it……
“Oh sweetie we don’t carry your size in the store. You’ll have to order it online.”
WTF!!?
::sigh::
Have you been fitted before? If not do you think you ever will? If so, were you far off from your correct size? Where do you usually buy your bras and do you try on before you buy or order online?
