Hair Update

BAD HAIR

I’ve been getting mega tangles these days. Also my hair has been dry as the sahara. It’s my fault. I decided to try a DC every 2 weeks reggie, and obviously my hair is WAY too dry for that kinda foolishness.

The dryness may be the cause of the tangleyness so I’m going to DC like crazy, I’m talking every 2 days, for a bit and see how it goes. Also I’m going to buy a clarifying shampoo to use. Hopefully my hair will behave better again. If it still tangles I’ll have to do a trim.

COLOR & STYLE

I need to get my color touched up, so when I do I’ll get a lil trim IF my stylist agrees to trim on curly hair. If not…. I dunno what I’ll do. It SCARES me to think of someone else with scissors near my head. But the last trim I got was in February so I’m due. I was considering going darker again but ruled against it. I’ll keep going with my new lighter color. It works, especially now that I’m all extra dark from vacay tanning.

I’m going to do more intricate protective styles as I mentioned in my hair goals post. I love the alicia keys thing, but now that I can make semi decent flat twists I want to experiment more. I’ve been doing a lot of wash n gos and that’s getting old.

SELF SABOTAGE

I’ve been thinking a lot about cutting my hair super short…these are destructive thoughts and I usually get them when I reach BSL/MBL and in the past I would give in. Now that I’m WL and trying to see how long I can grow, I REFUSE to fall victim to these thoughts.

GROWTH & LENGTH CHECK

Every couple weeks I go to check my length, but since I’m not straightening all I can do is pull it taught in the back and try to measure. Going by the photos I’ve taken. It looks like I haven’t grown a bit since April’s length check where I was almost WL. That can’t be right.

I see my hair growing by the amount of uncolored newgrowth I have. Speaking of which. The hair in the front of my head/hairline grows WAY slower than everywhere else. WTF is that about?!

OTHER NEWS
I am planning on buying some long, straight hair wigs for use during photoshoots so I wouldn’t have to straighten my own hair. I can’t wait to try em on and see how they look. I’ll post pics for sure.

Well, I tried again and I timed myself. I got it done in 12 minutes. It’s slightly sloppy, but I LOVE IT. I’m going to try some more styles incorporating flat twists soon.

oh I’d definitely want to instantly teleport. And I’d want to be able to teleport others with me. So I could just hold John’s hand and take us to Paris for the day.

Oh gawd. I like really random lines from really random movies. They crack me up, but won’t be funny posted here out of context…but I’m still posting it lol.

I cackle at: king of queens reruns, party down, 30 rock, the office, and sadly I laugh at shows that aren’t comedies…like the housewives of new jersey

{eight} what was your first paying job?

babysitting like most girls, but first paying on-the-books job: I was a greeter at manhattan mall, and I got my best friends hired too. So we would play all day and hide in mcdonalds instead of greeting people when they entered the mall. It was fun!

{nine} what celebrity would play you in a movie about your life?

ME!! I’d say jada pinkett smith, or sanaa lathan.

{ten} if you had to perform in the circus, what trick would you do?

I’d be terrible at all of those acts so I’ll just be the announcer lol.

Poo & Condish

In mexico I bought:

I normally don’t buy this brand, not because I don’t like it or anything, but because it is usually pricey in my CVS.

In Mexico it was 30 pesos. (12 pesos = $1, you do the math) So I bought 2 conditioners and 1 shampoo to use during the trip.

Now, I’m 1/2 way through the shampoo, and almost done with the 2nd conditioner. I LOVE this stuff.

I know it’s filled with harsh ingredients, but the shampoo thoroughly cleans my hair and scalp and the conditioner effectively gives me enough slip to not die during detangling time!

Plus it smells heavenly.

Will I buy it here in the states, no, I’ll experiment with other brands, but in August when I go back to Mexico I’ll definitely stock up since it’s so cheap.

Oops Late Enjoy The View

Sorry for the late post today folks.

On Monday night I got about 3 hours of fitful sleep because I had to be up at 3:30 for a photoshoot with my favorite photographer Hydra. It was out on Fire Island, the first time I had ever been. I wanted to get some sunrise shots.

He picked me up at 4:00 a.m. for the almost 2 hour drive out from Manhattan. There’s a mile long walk from the point where you park the car to the beach we were shooting on. We walked on this narrow wooden path and saw cool stuff along the way like this little guy….ok BIG guy:

And when we finally got to the beach….everything was GREY and MISTY!!! I was getting kinda upset because I thought our shoot would be ruined. Deep down I really wanted to get a silhouette shot for my portfolio. Then the sun peeked out!

And hector grabbed his camera and we got a few shots, like this one he sent to me last night

I feel like I’m thanking the heavens for the sun lol.

So as soon as those few shots were captured, the clouds rolled in, and added to the foggy mist already present, made horrendous shoot conditions…but we shot anyway. I’m anxious to see how Hector edits the drab grey colorless shots we got into something beautiful.

Oh but wait, once we walked the mile back to the car, the fog was gone, the clouds were sparse and the sun was making everything beautiful and warm. WTF!? Just our luck! That sun was a meanie.

We came back to the city in the afternoon and I was thinking “Yay I get to sleep till forever…” but then I remembered a friend was in town from FL so I went out to a late lunch with her. Totally forgot to take pics
Oh and did some minor shopping with her and her awesome cousin (I only got a lil necklace that was marked down from $25 to $8.97 but then rang up as $5.49 at the register!….so that barely counts as shopping…right?!)

Came home pooped but couldn’t get to sleep cuz John wasn’t in the bed!

(I hate when he’s in the bed cuz he takes up all the space and elbows me in the head, but when he’s not there it feels so wrong!)

So I tossed and turned till what felt like a hundred o’clock and finally fell out and didn’t wake up till 11:00 a.m.! That’s CRAZY late for me. I actually considered taking a picture of the clock lol because I never wake up that late unless I have the flu or something.

My body wakes me naturally some time between 7 and 8 no matter what time I go to sleep. I guess I was compensating for the 3 hours the night before.

So anyway, it’s a late post, but I wanted to give you all a hump-day view to enjoy!
